About Lesson
The Kanban view is particularly useful for teams that follow Agile or Scrum methodologies. It allows you to visualize tasks as they move through stages, making it easier to track progress and identify bottlenecks. Here’s how to set up and use the Kanban view:
-
Access the Views Dropdown:
- Navigate to the board you want to view as a Kanban board.
- Click on the ‘Views’ dropdown at the top of your board and select ‘Kanban View.’
-
Customize Your Columns:
- In the Kanban view, each column represents a stage in your workflow (e.g., To Do, In Progress, Done).
- Customize these columns to match your process by adding, removing, or renaming them. To add a new column, click the ‘+ Add Column’ button. To rename a column, click on the column header and type the new name.
-
Drag and Drop Tasks:
- Tasks are displayed as cards that you can drag and drop between columns to update their status. This visual representation helps you quickly see the status of each task and identify bottlenecks.
-
Filter and Sort Tasks:
- Use filters to display only the tasks that meet certain criteria (e.g., tasks assigned to a specific team member or tasks due this week). To apply a filter, click on the ‘Filter’ button and select the criteria you want to use.
- Sort tasks based on priority, due date, or other custom criteria. Click on the column headers to sort tasks in ascending or descending order.
-
Using WIP Limits:
- Work in Progress (WIP) limits can be set to limit the number of tasks in a particular column, helping to prevent overload and ensure a smooth workflow. To set WIP limits, click on the column settings and enter the maximum number of tasks allowed in that column.
-
Adding Swimlanes:
- Swimlanes allow you to further organize your tasks within the Kanban view by categorizing them into different lanes. This can be useful for separating tasks by team, priority, or any other criteria. To add swimlanes, go to the Kanban settings and configure the lanes according to your needs.
By using the Kanban view effectively, you can improve your team’s workflow, enhance transparency, and ensure that tasks are completed in a timely manner.
